It's Fall!

We have had a lot of fun and learning with our Fall Farms theme.  Because I'm trying to get this out quickly I will just let the pictures tell the story :). There are some times of the day that I don't get pictures of, like Circle Time, when we talk about letters (Tuesdays) and shapes, colors, and numbers (Thursdays). I'll start adding to the snack schedule what skills we're working on each day so you can reinforce them at home if you want. Next week is Fall break so we will not have preschool. I will miss all the kiddos but we'll see them back the following Tuesday. We have finished our Fall Farms theme and we're starting a "creatures" unit. We learned about owls today and the week after Fall break we'll learn about bats and insects (with a Halloween extension) and then animals. Have a great week!

Strengthening those fingers as we stamp out leaves

Hanging the leaves on the "sticky board"

This has been a popular activity over the last few weeks that they haven't tired of yet.

Magnet cars

Singing the "Mr Slinky Worm" song while the kids act it out with their slinky worm puppets

Morning Trays

We were helping the Little Red Hen make toast.  Here we are grinding the wheat in the wheat grinder (which is pretty loud!)

Fun with vegetables- peeling, cutting, and eating.  I warned them to never try to cut anything at home without their mom or dad's help, but you may need to have that conversation also!

They loved the little red hen sensory activities- this center was crowded the whole time.

It could be a balance beam or a parking lot :)

Fun with bubbles

Leaf rubbings

painting water onto foam leaves so they stick on the window

Fun at the farmer's market

painting Fall trees

journal writing

Singing time with Fall leaves

more writing

Lots of exploring

They were playing a pirate game and I came over to get a picture but by the time I got there I'd missed the moment and this is what was left from them all being together up in the clubhouse.

Exploring the inside of a pumpkin

Measuring pumpkins

Bean box fun

They were excited about how tall they got the counters. We had to get a picture before we could clean it up.

I love books! They were excited to check out the books their friend brought in the number bag.

He was showing us his books and we used them for some number activities as well. The number bag will start coming home and the kids get to put some items from home into the bag and bring it back to school. They can share a little about what they brought and we will count, sort, estimate, add, and do a variety of math activities with them before sending the items back home at the end of the day.

All together in the bunny/digging area

I'm so happy that the writing center was such a hit today. They loved copying works into their journals.

Another number bag activity. She was sharing with us why the ladybugs were special.
