Second Week

On Tuesday our we learned about our names and specifically, the first letter of our name. Today we had a lot of fun with our 5 senses. I am really enjoying this group of kids! They keep me busy and we're still working on expectations, but they are doing great! They get along really well together and I love watching them explore and learn new things.  I'm grateful to all of you for allowing me to spend my days with them. I hope you enjoy these pictures of all our fun and learning.

I love how engaged everyone is with their activities during morning tray time!

Making rolls to shape into the first letters of our names

We learned about trustworthiness for one of our preschool values and we practiced putting our thumbs up and saying "I'll do it" when asked to do something, then doing it. I was impressed with how much it helped with them following through on what they're asked to do.  Especially when we get down on their level and ask them to look in our eyes when we're letting them know what we need them to do.

Shaping the dough into letters

The doctor is ready

Water play during outside play time- I've been so grateful for all of Ms. Christen's help!

Another good thumbs up :)

Yum...our rolls were delicious

dancing with scarves

Putting together our name puzzles

Color Sorting

Exploring with our 5 senses

Fun at the light table

Seeing if I looked yellow through the colored magnifying glass...I did!

Lots to see, feel, smell, taste, and hear

These kiddos did a great job using their words and listening to each other to figure out how to share the toy. We talked about talking and listening respectfully today.  We described respect as showing someone how special and important they are by the way we treat them.

Working together to build towers

Setting up a date :)

We played with edible playdough

Lots of thumbs up to tell me when it was time to come in from recess they would all come right in....and they did!

Playing on the log walk

Sound bingo

After reading "Brown Bear Brown Bear" we had fun acting out the different animals.

Second Day

I normally don't post every day but I took a lot of pictures and I know its especially fun to see what's going on at the beginning of the year.  For our "My friends, family, and Me" Unit we learned about our bodies today and did a lot of movement games and action activities. We also learned about our preschool value of patience and talked about how sometimes our bodies want to move and go places but they need to be patient while they wait for the right time.
Building friendships

We saw a large cicada crawling outside and we all watched it together for quite a while

I love that he thought to bring over the magnifying glass to see it better.

Measuring beans

Eating a delicious snack- pretzels, cheese crackers, and oranges...yum!

Checking out the talking map

More movement activities outside...we had fun setting up an obstacle course

practicing summersaults

It almost looks like he's balancing on the ball :)...he's not, but she is doing a great job on the balance beam

love it!

This is the most patient bunny in the world

The school bus is driving through the playdough

More playdough fun

These pictures are out of order...but still cute!

Good thing a lot of doctors were on hand to take care of all of Ms. Christen's injuries

Awesome work on a tricky puzzle

Hickory Dickory Dock...we had fun running up our makeshift clock while we learned the rhyme

We did a stop and freeze song to practice being patient and holding our bodies still when the music stopped.

First Day 2018

I am so excited to begin my school year with this awesome group of kids! Here are some snippets of the fun we had today.

Once again, the bean box is a hit

Enjoying a classic book...one of my favorites!

This little cutie will join us on Tuesdays with her mom- she is so easy going and spent most of the time chilling out in a carrier on her mom's back.  I didn't get a picture of Ms Christen but it was so nice to have her there with us!

Exploring magnets

I told them I was taking this picture to show their moms and dads how impressed I was by how nicely they sat at the circle.  Pretty impressive for the first day!

Library time

Fun with cars on the track

This guy is almost old enough for preschool so we decided this morning to give it a trial run. It will be fun to have him join his big brother on Tuesdays while we try it out. :)

Getting ready to put the doll down for a nap

Hard at work

Busy at play

Awesome teamwork

She took very good care of the babies

...and the bunny

We had a lot of free time to explore- both inside and outside

Petting Hopper

Lots of bubbles!

It was fun to watch them get to know each other.

Painting time

Besides having fun we also learned a lot! We learned the names of our friends and spent time playing together to learn about how to form friendships. We learned about how our preschool days will run and what our classroom holds. We worked on sitting for circle time and learned what our jobs are (to love and take care of each other, and to listen so we can learn). We learned about making good choices and using our nice words to help figure things out, we learned how good it feels to get outside and move our bodies, we learned how to work together to get a job done, we played with activities that will make our fingers strong so we can become writers, we learned how to make watercolor paints work :), we learned some songs and read some books, and we learned how fun it is to learn! I can't wait to have them back on Thursday for lots more fun and learning!
